Wavelab – where MusicTech startups reach the next level

MusicTech startups need more than just a good idea: they need industry expertise, strong networks, and targeted support. That’s exactly what Wavelab – the entrepreneurship center at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts – offers. Since 2020, the program has been helping founders turn their innovative projects from prototypes into market-ready businesses.

Paying customers, funding rounds, and successful acquisitions

Wavelab’s incubator program has already supported six batches of MusicTech startups, with impressive results. Among them is DJOID: An AI-based DJ software tool for organizing and curating music. After finishing their stay at Wavelab the Berlin-based project reached 2.000 paying customers within the next year. Looking back at his time at Wavelab founder Alaa Elhadba reflects: “The program was extremely well organized, responded quickly to our challenges, and was perfectly tailored to our needs at our stage of development. As a team aiming for market entry, we greatly benefited from the valuable input and sparring sessions with the Wavelab team.”

Just 4 Noise was part of batch 5 of the Wavelab incubator. This project offers an AI-fueled sample generator for unique one-shot samples from text. A Couple of months after their time at Wavelab they secured a funding round of 1 Mio. Dollar. CEO Max Shafer also valued the business connections they made: “If you’re a founder in the cultural space, this is the place to be. That hyperfocus creates a passionate community and with it, real opportunities to meet people who have already succeeded in the field. Thanks to the program, we even landed our first industry partnership.”
